Graduation
Students planning to graduate from Flint Hills Technical College with their Associate of Applied Science degree, Technical Certificate or Certificate must complete an
Application for Graduation. The Application can be obtained from the Registrar in the Student Services Office or filled out online using the link above. An Associate of Applied Science degree is earned when a student completes a minimum of 60 credit hours and has a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher. A minimum of 44 credit hours of technical education coursework is required to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree. A Technical Certificate is earned when a student completes the minimum number of hours and courses required in the freshman year of a program of study, which awards a Technical Certificate. The student must have completed such coursework with a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher. A Certificate is earned when a student completes the minimum number of hours and courses required in a program of study, which awards a Certificate. The student must have completed such coursework with a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher.
Eligibility for participation in Commencement Exercises
To be eligible to participate in commencement exercises students must fill out the
Graduation Application and meet one of the following requirements:
- Completion of all certificate, technical certificate or degree requirements;
- Summer graduation candidates within nine hours of program completion and enrolled in the courses necessary for completion; or
- Associate of Applied Science candidates who have completed all of their technical education courses and are within one general education course of degree completion and pre-enrolled in the course needed to complete the degree.
Graduation Checklist:
Make sure the following items are in order before you graduate.
- Completed all program coursework
- Turned in Application for Graduation
- Sumitted all official transcripts from other institutions using the Transfer Request Form
- Scheduled exit loan counseling if you have any financail aid loans
- All accounts are paid with an account balance of $0
- Any materials are returned to the library or with your program

Exit I-135 at Exit 130, Hwy 99 and Merchant St.
Continue South on Hwy 99 and Merchant St until intersection with 12th Avenue.
Turn East on 12th avenue and travel 1 block.
Turn South on Commercial St and continue until 6th Ave.
Turn East on 6th Avenue 1 block to corner of 6th Avenue and Mechanic Street.
From Hwy 99:
Travel on Hwy 99 toward Emporia.
Follow Hwy 99, continuing until intersection with 6th Ave.
Turn East on 6th Avenue 1 block to corner of 6th Avenue and Mechanic Street.
From Hwy 50:
Travel on Hwy 50 toward Emporia.
Follow Hwy 50, continuing until intersection with Mechanic St.
