Emergency Medical Technician
Mission:
EMT-B students will learn extrication, operation of emergency vehicles, basic anatomy, basic assessment of injury or illness, triage, care for specific injuries and illnesses, environmental emergencies, childbirth and transport of the patient.
EMT-I students will gain knowledge about the basic life support skills as well as advanced life support procedures such as assessment, IV fluid administration, advanced airway procedures, defibrillation, trauma management, and a limited number of medications given in medical emergencies.

Prerequisites
Students must:
- Take and pass the ASSET test with a score of 35 in all areas
- Graduate from a high school or have received a GED diploma
- Must pass a criminal background check
Instruction
Instruction takes place in the classroom and hands-on practice labs. Once successfully mastered, students will use their skills in ambulance and emergency room internships.
