Health Occupations Technology

Mission:

The student will participate in planned experiences directed toward perfomrin health related acvitites with precision, safety, and efficiency consistent with concepts and practices of all encompassing health care entities and disciplines.  Clinical practice is correlated with basic therapeutic knowledge and introductory content from the biological and behavioral sciences.

The Program:

Prerequisites

  • Must complete the ASSET test and score a 35 or above in all areas.
  • Must have graduated from high school, recieved a GED diploma, or be concurrently enrolled in high school as a senior.
  • Must be at least 16 years old.

Instruction

HOT is a one year, half-day certificate program which gives students the opportunity to prepare for full-time college healthcare programs and provides career focused employment opportunites while pursuing additional healthcare training. 

The HOT program prepares the student to explore healthcare opportunities, prepare for college health programs, gain CNA, HHA, AD, NA & CPR certifications, and enter the workforce in a skilled healthcare occupation during or after completion of high school.

Courses

The Health Occupations Technology certificate program, which contains technical education courses, is two semesters in length. Students participate in planned and supervised experiences directed toward performing health-related measures with precision, safety and efficiency consistent with fundamental health concepts and practices. Clinical practice is correlated with basic therapeutic knowledge and skills needed for employment as a Home Health Aide, Certified Nurse Aide, Restorative Aide, or Activities Director.
