This first semester course will provide the EMT-P student with an understanding of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and general drug classifications. Students will be required to develop a strong understanding of the drugs most commonly used in the pre-hospital setting, as well as those most commonly prescribed by physicians for specific ailments. Students will receive education in the algebraic formulas necessary to accurately calculate drug dosages for various concentrations, solutions, routes of administration, etc.
