This second semester course will provide the EMT-P student with the knowledge and skills necessary for providing care to patients with special needs to include: abuse/assault patients, hearing/visual/speech challenged patients, disabled patients and patients who are suffering an acute exacerbation of a chronic disease process. Students will develop processes associate with determining the pathophysiology of underlying disease processes, as well as decision making/critical thinking processes to formulate a treatment modality and apply such to a contrived patient situation.
