What is it?
- Homework Kansas is “free online tutoring”
- For students in grades 4-12 and introductory college classes
- BUT anyone can use it!!
- Tutoring available in Math, Science, English, and Social Studies
Dates and times available:
- Accessible daily 4:00-11:00 pm
- Available in Spanish for math and science, Sunday-Thursday 4:00-9:00 pm
How to access:
- Can access from any computer using Kansas Library Card *
- Technical requirements:
- Computer with Internet access
- Windows 2000 or XP
- Explorer 6.0
- Macromedia Flash 8 or 9 plug-in installed
- Does not work with Macintosh products
- Works with dial-up as well as high-speed Internet access
Tutors:
- Are certified teachers, college professors, or graduate students
- All are proven subject experts and are trained and mentored
Security:
- All tutors have gone through background check for safety
- It is a controlled chat environment
- No personal information is exchanged
- Sessions are recorded and reviewed

- Wait time: usually under 1 minute; a box will appear to let students know how long the wait time will be
- Answer two questions – grade? and subject?
- Click on “pencil” option to use whiteboard
- Chat
- Average session has been 20-40 minutes
- Users can print a transcript of both the chat and the whiteboard
