The Associate of Applied Science degree, with a major in Paramedic, is an intensive four semester program that contains technical, advanced technical and general education courses. Students participate in structured settings directed toward performing pre-hospital care with safety and efficiency consistent with State of Kansas and United States Department of Transportation guidelines. Clinical and field internships are correlated with theory from the biological and behavioral sciences. A program advisory committee, composed of healthcare
professionals from throughout Eastern Kansas, assures program goals and outcomes consistent with those necessary for the student to succeed in the pre-hospital emergency medical field. Graduates of the program possess the knowledge and skills necessary to challenge certification examinations. Those students successfully challenging Board examinations are eligible for employment as Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedics.
