IMD190 Compositing

3 Credit Hours

Students will study the history of compositing effects in film and video. They will gain hands on experience combining visual elements through techniques such as “green screen”, in camera effects and combining layered elements in the computer. Students will learn Adobe After Effects and create basic composites, as well as nested composites. Creating keyframes on the timeline, masking effects, movable mattes and color correction will be covered, along with selecting the correct resolution and file format to be handed off to the next step in the production pipeline. Students will also discuss the ethical issues involved with compositing.
