Construction Technology prepares students for an in-demand career in commercial and residential construction through actual construction of a residential house or other community-based projects. This hands-on training provides real-world experience in carpentry, roofing, framework, cabinetry, concrete work, flooring and painting.
Construction Technology offers a one-year technical certificate program.
The technical certificate consists of hands-on technical education courses focused on teaching the skills needed for entry-level employment.
The construction industry can be divided into several categories; the largest of which are residential and commercial construction. Building trades workers are employed in the construction of homes, buildings, highways, airports, and similar structures. The scope of work performed by construction workers, who are often referred to as carpenters, is so broad that many specialize in a particular type of work. For example, some carpenters may specialize in erecting the framework of a building, while others specialize in installation of millwork or build and install cabinetry. In smaller communities, a carpenter may do most facets of construction including roofing, flooring, drywall, and painting.
